Thank you Kari, some folks just do not realize how pretty you can make the simple little granny square look. There are a couple of colors in there that I do not ever remember seeing before. One of the blues has a velvety sheen look to it, but it is just your basic 4-ply worsted. Very nice yarn.

Very pretty. Are you making these from scratch yourself or using donated squares? Or is it totally donated?
So nice and colorful!!

By the way...is it just simple grannies?

These are the donated squares that
the registered members at CrochetManiacsFoeCharity have donated. I just join them and deliver to the charity.
It is 26x30.............these are the basic4 RND grannies.
Each granny I did a RND of dc's.
On the sides to widen the blankie, I did two more ROWS (just on the sides) of the same color as I did around the squares. Then one ROW in a gold.
On the ends (top and bottom)...I did a ROW of sc's accross in the gold
NOW your blankie is even all the way around at this stage...also at the corners I also do a 2 stitch, ch 2, join....just what ever it takes to make a corner the same in each.
Now, just take the next RND and do allll the way around in DC's with the cornmeal..corners being (2 dc's, ch 2, 2 dc's).....
sl st into corner, ch 4, sl st in same (do this in each corner).
then (ch 4, sk 1, sc in next) around.
You can do a lot of uneven squares in size this way,,,,,just add rows to add width or length, then go all the way around in the next RND to frame in your piece.
I did the next and last RND with (sc, ch 4, sc in corners)
then (ch 4, sk 1, sc in next)..around.

Lordy, that was a sclear as mud, LOL.....

The last two RNDS......one RND in dc's with the corners being 2 dc's, ch 2, 2 dc's............
Last and final RND.....sl st into corner, ch 1, sc in same, ch 4, sc in same, ch 4, sk next dc, sc in next...around :)

Thanks for the 'clear' info!! I'm going to have to start donating some squares to that. There always seems to be so much going on around here....to find the time!!

So is 12 squares how many you are using to make your charity blankets? Just wondering, I might be able to come up with 12 squares of the same size for you to make a blankie from....

NewLifestyle said...

Yes, it is 12 in the ghan...........
These are 5 3/4 inch squares, and I add width to them with rows of DC's.
!2 more grannies would be awesome!!
Just go to CrochetManiacsForCharity and join us Lisa, we would love to see you there :)
